The Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) has said its new multi-purpose building at Jebel, suburb of Juba will be completed this month.

The 12-storey facility, whose construction started in February 2022, will accommodate the entire bank’s staff, shaping the face of the country’s financial institution.

Bank Governor Dr James Alic Garang, his first deputy Samuel Yanga and other senior staff visited the site on Saturday to oversee the progress.

Dr Garang urged the Chinese construction firm, Shandong Hi-Speed Group Company Ltd (SDHS), to ensure quality work is done on time.

“We are being assured that by the end of June this work will be done. We would like to encourage the company to ensure that quality must be delivered, that work must be done on time,” he said.

Yanga said the bank’s administration was putting in place measures to ensure the project is delivered on time.

“The whole administration is putting in place measures to make sure this project is delivered on time. And I think we have now witnessed that it’s going on.  But I would still stress that Shandong should speed up. Of course not compromising the quality,” said Yanga.

“This is a very important landmark and it should be concluded as such. Our visit today has proven that the Shandong Construction Company is progressing well. So I wanted to appreciate the level of commitment and work that has been done this far,” he said.

Shandong Construction General Manager Scott Xu expressed their commitment to accelerate the completion of the project in a high-quality and an efficient manner.

“We would like to make our full commitment, that we are mobilizing every necessary resource, including 600 to 700 people on the ground, to ensure that we complete the project in a high-quality and efficient manner,” said Scott.
