The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has secured a consensus to establish a civil administration in Sudan’s East Darfur State.
The decision was arrived at following a consultative meeting organized by the Advisory Council of the Commander of RSF on Wednesday which was attended by representatives from the state’s nine localities.
The council said the intellectuals who honored the meeting would contribute valuable insights towards the proper construction of the civil authority in the state.
According to the council, all the attendees agreed on the establishment of civil administrative structures with proportional representation for each administrative unit, after extensive discussions.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, one of the workshop attendees, Engineer Yassir Hadi, said the meeting was the first of its kind and was fruitful.
“This meeting is considered the first consultative gathering on the concept of civil administration,” he stated.
Hadi also noted that several recommendations were made at the workshop held under the slogan: “Foundational Construction, Civil Administration in East Darfur State.”
The recommendations included the initiation of the state’s civil apparatus.
For his part, Mohammed Ibrahim Hasouba, another attendee, affirmed the participant’s engagement, noting that they attended the first consultative meeting to establish civil governance in the state as representatives of various sectors in East Darfur.
Hamid Mohammedi Bashar, from Adila locality, confirmed that all the participants approved the establishment of civil administrations across the state.
“All workshop attendees agreed on the establishment of civil administrations in East Darfur State, considering the plight of the citizens who have been deprived of education, healthcare, and other services due to the current government’s neglect of its responsibilities,” Bashar asserted.
